The only downside at first is that the pads stretch but are very brittle. If you pull a little too hard to separate them from the plastic wrap, they MAY break. So be careful. Now positive. it works. I just bought a Samsung 980 Pro which DEFINITELY gets hot during the stress test. Yesterday I did a user benchmark test and it showed a maximum temperature of 65 degrees Celsius. Did the same test again today and the maximum temperature was 45 degrees Celsius. I think if the stress test continued for more than a few minutes you would definitely be in the 70+ degree danger zone which would cause the SSD throttle to drop and risk damage. For $10 this is a great addition.
