This tablecloth is actually waterproof. I poured water on it to test and let it sit for 10 seconds. Not enough liquid came out to wet the table, but you could see where the water was on the underside of the fabric. If the liquid stays on the cloth for longer (15 minutes), I think your table is a bit damp. I think if you had a lacquered table that would be great. I think the color is darker than the picture shows. I bought turquoise. The sea wave color would be more suitable for my needs. I bought turquoise thinking the shade would be lighter. If the tablecloth was machine washed, it would clean well. I don't think it gets dirty easily. Of course it was dented upon delivery. It needs to be washed to remove wrinkles. But it doesn't wrinkle when eating.
