Don't waste your time with the cheaper options available - they don't work, and if they do, they're nowhere near as good as they are. I run a little less than 30 meters on the Cat5 and it works without any problems. The biggest difference between this and the cheaper options is that AC power is required at both ends. However, this is not all praise. My only complaint is that the devices turn on when there is power. I'm not sure if this will shorten the lifespan of the product or not. My concern is that the only way to turn them off is to turn off the AC power from both devices. It would be nice if the documentation clearly stated if this issue would affect the product over time. I would like to see similar WOL functionality over IP networks. Don't know if the hardware supports this technology. The product comes with a receiver and a transmitter. Also include cables for IR so you can use remotes close to the receiver endpoint - this feature works really well. The assembly time was very quick. The longest part of the setup was catching cat5e through walls and ceilings, which has nothing to do with the actual element. I would eventually like to test the option of propagating this signal over an isolated VLAN on my home network. However, the devices are somewhat prohibitively expensive for testing purposes only. I have no real need for this type of extensive distribution, but I can see where it would be a great benefit in environments where multiple displays are showing the same content, e.g. B. in a sports bar. Overall 5 stars for cat5e at almost 30 meters with no problems. The energy issue doesn't require a reduction in star count, but it would be nice if it were fixed in future releases or documentation.
