Now that I have this in my life, I just can't live without it. I love omelettes. As someone with no culinary skills, this is the answer to my prayers. It's very simple and the omelettes are excellent. I'm on a keto diet so I use it at least twice a day. Just keep in mind that your omelettes will be a little different than what you make in a pan, they will be brown on the outside and the omelet will look more like a cake than you're used to. I don't mind, it's still delicious! This is for quick and easy omelettes that are delicious. If you want diner quality you should probably go to a diner or get a skillet. It only takes me about 5 minutes to cook my omelettes. I see others say 8-10 minutes but all I know is that for my grill this is ideally done in about 5 minutes. But I have my own strategy that I give with tips at the end of the review. I would like to add that I read many reviews on this product because I wanted to know. Reading the negative reviews it seems that some people have some kind of inconsistency with the heating element. I've seen people complain about burnt eggs or that it takes too long or that the middle is runny. I don't have any of these problems with my block. If you have these problems, you can return it or read my tips, they can help you. This is definitely something I would recommend to anyone who wants to cook eggs quickly and easily. However, if I could give 4.5 stars instead of 5, I would only do so because there is room for improvement. First, this thing gets really hot. Never touch the outside of this device while it is switched on, as this could result in burns. Keep everything away from it during operation. Also, there is no power button or switch, so you have to plug it in every time. I use an extension cord, it's just more convenient for me to do it. There is also no timer or anything like that, you just have to be careful and determine the time yourself. Finally, some people have disagreements about the time it takes to boil eggs, making it a little harder to recommend to others without knowing what they might be getting. Now that said, let me get straight to the tips on how to make a good omelette with this maker! First, use the jar to beat the eggs and spices. Don't put any ingredients in the jar, only eggs, this only lengthens the shake. It's personal preference, but why spend more work than necessary getting your dishes dirty? When you're done, just pop the jar in the fridge, or if you've been without the kettle for a while, rinse and put away. Second, use 3 eggs on each side AND use 2 tablespoons of water. Yes, you read that right, WATER. Add water to the glass while beating the eggs. This will make your omelet very tasty. Mix everything together in a glass. Third, after preheating the grill, fill both sides of the grill with the beaten egg BUT only about half full. Then add the ingredients directly to the grilled eggs. Prepare your ingredients so you don't waste time cooking eggs. You don't want to overfill and this prevents that from happening as you can stop adding ingredients when you get close to the top of the fill line. If you have more room after adding the ingredients, add the remaining egg mixture to the jar. Again, you can take it to the edge, just don't go beyond that. close the lid Fourth, wait for the grill lid to begin to lift. If you did everything correctly, the lid should lift slightly. I need about 3 minutes. Once the lid lifts up on its own, lift it all the way up and poke a hole right in the middle of both omelettes. You should both be looking pretty tall by this point. Just a small hole with something like a knife. This will help cook the center a little better and keep the omelette from blowing away. Lower the lid. Fifth, I usually only have to wait about 2-3 minutes at this point. Then I remove the eggs with a rubber spatula, and I end up with the perfect omelet every time!
