Review on OCR Concrete Diamond Grinding Grinder by Tony Wilson

Great for the price

This is about 1/4 the price of the same item at a blue tag hardware store. I figured I'd give it a try and if it didn't work I'd only pay 25% more than buying a famous branded version first. I'm almost finished with my project and I can't say that the sanding surface is badly worn. I see sparkling diamonds embedded in the cutting surface. As long as there is no asbestos as a filler, the thing is great. This thing will pierce concrete, concrete paving, and floor paint. I even hammered some nails into the concrete. Several times I wished it was less aggressive. I've had the best results running it at full speed and wheeling it as close to the ground as possible. The surface does not appear to be shiny. I would say it leaves the floor somewhere around 60 roughness units. I would have a hard time using this to get a smooth enough surface for a finish if you're thinking of using this for that. It tends to bounce around some, leaving ridges. This thing creates a huge cloud of dust. Be sure to wear a respirator and safety goggles. I haven't tried a dust cover, but putting a vacuum next to a grinding wheel is totally ineffective at keeping dust out. I didn't expect the dust cover to be fully effective and I think it will make the tool more difficult to use since you can't see it. And if you vacuum a lot, a dust separator like the one from the hardware store with the orange sign will actually help and save you cleaning the vacuum cleaner filter almost as often.
