Review on 🌊 Tidal 75 Gallon (300 Liters) SeaChem Fish Tank Filter with Sicce Pump by Gary Bush

Overall this is a great filter and probably the best HOB on the market with Aquaclear being closely related. Firstly it is only as good as the aquarist is good as it is designed to be filled with your chosen medium. The medium provided consists of bare bones, a mechanical base sponge and a bag of porous material for biological bacteria. You really need to stock your cart with extra stuff to get the most out of this product. The filter is almost completely silent at the lowest flow setting, but makes a buzzing noise as you increase the flow. Not super loud, but audible. This filter only really gets loud when you let the water level drop too low or the skimmer is clogged with debris. If noise bothers you, the Tidal 55 is significantly quieter. The Tidal 75 and 110 are loud compared to their smaller counterparts. I use the supplied stuff along with an additional spare Seachem Tidal sponge (2 packs) on the bottom and a floating one on the top to completely eliminate the "bypass" that the negative reviews mention. The bypass is actually a deliberately designed flow of water. It seems to be working very well for me. The replacement sponges are slightly denser than the coarse sponge that comes with the Tidal filter. A skimmer is great if you have a planted aquarium as it will pick up debris and hold it in place so you can remove it easily. Crop residue that runs through the skimmer is caught under the basket until the water flow destroys it. The flow regulator can be adjusted from 20% to 100% for the skimmer. * The skimmer is not safe for juvenile fish and shrimp and as you cannot turn off the skimmer completely this filter is not suitable for them. Finally, the flow controller is great. It easily reduces the water flow to near zero or somewhere in between the maximum flow. I've found that the more you fill this filter with material, the more likely it will need servicing. You need to find out what environment is best for you and what water flow setting is right for you.
