I'll admit the setup process couldn't be simpler. The QR code made it easy to add any sensor to my SmartThings Hub. I have 6 pairs of these sensors installed at all entrances to my house. I actually installed 2 sensors on one of my doors thinking I had a faulty sensor and installed another as a backup. Both show as offline most of the time until I use the door. When opening/closing the door, sometimes one, both or none of the sensors are connected to the network (never always). I installed these 2 in my garage where they hold about 45 degrees in the winter. The cold definitely plays a role here. I've also had many instances with all of the other sensors (all within 25 feet of my hub with very little interference) where they didn't detect the door opening/closing. I've found that temperature is 100% a factor. Anytime I drop the temp to 65 or below the sensors may go out and if I heat my house up again some of the sensors will come back online. Worst of all, SmartThings doesn't count the first time the door is opened as a record if the sensor is triggered. It just marks it as online. That means if someone enters, I'm not notified the first time I open the door. For a device designed for security, this is unacceptable.
