Review on Outdoor Square Propane Fire Table, 50K BTU Auto-Ignition Gas Firepit With 34 Inch Metal Tabletop, CSA Certified - Black Bronze Finish by Paul Opoku

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice addition to our porch - but not salt-air friendly

Purchased a year ago (Mar 2020), we hoped a fire pit would extend the use of our lanai. We chose this unit because the weight suggested sturdiness and the tabletop tiles pictured would not clash too much with our floor pavers. To our delight, the tiles were much less colorful than pictured on ebay so it fit perfectly with our floor pavers and surrounding furniture. It puts out heat typical of commercial pits at restaurants in the area. So it nicely extends us on chilly nights. Warning - Assembly is a two-person job as the top is large and heavy. That heavy top turned out to be a problem over time which is why I downgraded my rating from 5 to 3. The support base is aluminum, so it is Florida salt-air resistant, but the top and firepit lid are very low-grade steel and not painted with rust-inhibiting paint. Our house faces East on the West side of A1A about 250 yards from the ocean. Our porch is in a sort of covered alcove on the west wall of the house with a 12 ft high roof where it is very protected from weather. Like our patio furniture, our firepit does not get rained on. In 6 months, the metal lid in the center that covers the lava rocks was so rusted that I had to sand it down to bare metal and give it 3 coats of Rustoleum. After 12 months, rust is now forming on the steel outer rim of the table top. I am not looking forward to removing and sanding that heavy top this summer. Thus, I am downgrading our 5 stars to 3 due to the fact that this table probably has only 1 or 2 more years of serviceable life remaining.
