Review on 🚚 Pit Posse USA-Made Spare Tire Mount Kit - Trailer Carrier Holder Bracket for Enclosed Cargo, Wall Mount Aluminum - Universal Fit to Organize and Optimize Storage Space by Jacob Andreti

Very poor design - metric screws

I wasn't impressed. I think it would be too smart to provide bolts for a standard 1/2"-20 RH trailer nut? The bolts aren't 1/2"-13 either, more like a weird M12-1.75 metric that nobody sells. None of the included partially threaded bolts will work with a 15" trailer rim. The smaller one is too short, the longer one too long - because there are only threads at the ends. So I decided to buy a standard bottom bracket. a screw that fits, but none of the local hardware stores can find one that fits the square hole in the bracket. Also, the size and spacing between tiny mounting holes and screws is ridiculous. It would be very iffy to mount a floor rail on it, even on a wall stand - an unsafe design. I didn't buy this to modify it to make it usable. The bracket needs to be longer, with wider holes to distribute the weight on the sidewall of the metal trailer. This should be powder coated steel, not aluminum, with a pinned/fixed bolt for strength and stability (on this design, the bolt is loose and dangling all over the place making it difficult to line up the heavy spare tire and tighten the nut). The bolts provided must be 1/2"-20 right hand thread. d to allow the use of a standard trailer nut; so you can use a wrench to remove and install the wheel without damaging the painted or aluminum wheel, and have a spare wheel nut in case of emergency. For the development and design set the five, don't waste money.
