Carrier material, insoluble in oil
Basically fulfills the function described. However, it is not very durable. The rubber backing seems to erode from oil spills and becomes sticky and sticky, making the entire mat quite messy. I find that the material used is not oil resistant enough and will dissolve if spilled with oil (even if washed with detergent). In summary, it's good enough for a few oil changes but not durable enough for long-term use.
