Review on πŸ”§ AUTOOL Mini VC921 3/4 DMM AD/DC Multimeter Pocket Digital Multimeter Frequency Tester with 4000 Counts by Chad Black

Excellent value for money

Very handy and compact, decent performance for size and price, folds into its own case. Has features that might be unusual for a cheap tiny handheld multimeter: auto-ranging with optional manual range, data retention, 4000 count, claims "true rms" (but I haven't tested this). There is a "Rel" button on the front panel, but it uses the same button as the "Hold" function; I was only able to turn on the relative function when measuring capacitance. Unfortunately mostly useless. , most settings seem to auto-zero within a second or so without the usual jittery noise levels, which makes me wonder if the meter auto-zeroes to relative without having to press the "Rel" button. but I really don't know. The autoranging seems fast enough and the meter seems to set the reading without excessive jitter. The continuity seems a bit faster than what I've seen on other cheap counters. Not as fast as Fluke, but not as bad. Getting quick clean readings seemed to be mostly due to the probe tips seeming to have some spots on their stalks that don't read as quickly or consistently at each spot. The diode function provides enough current to illuminate the LEDs under test; Bonus since not all counters can do this. I was able to get accurate capacitance readings from 1nF to 10 microfarads, but not above or below that range. The gauge uses two AAA batteries, which are convenient and much better than the button batteries sometimes used in those little mini gauges; Batteries are *not* included. The meter can't measure current, but I don't recall ever seeing this feature in a small, foldable pocket meter, so no surprise. I compared a series of readings to a freshly calibrated Fluke 87v and the little meter began to close; So. This one is fairly accurate and seems to live up to its advertised specs well. It doesn't feel particularly sturdy, but it's perfect for light use, as a backup, and as something to keep handy when you're carrying around a larger, more expensive gauge it's not practical. What if it is lost or broken? Hey, you only have 12 bucks or something. Overall excellent value for money.
