Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ Optimized Zippo Chrome Lighters by Danny Crowder

Can't replace the classic

I ordered a replacement for my 1984 highly polished chrome Venetian Zippo which recently had a hinge come loose from the lid after many decades of daily use. Immediately after touching this highly polished 2018 Venetian, I could tell it wasn't of the same quality. The pattern has been laser engraved, not machine engraved. The metal is almost twice as thin and is a lower quality chrome-plated brass than silver-nickel-chrome. It feels light, cheap and thin in the hand and I seriously doubt it will last even 10 years like its predecessor, let alone 35 years. And other reviewers are right. Cotton is a fluffy and fluffy synthetic material, similar to a cotton swab, that doesn't contain as much butane as the dense Zippos felt of years ago. You're lucky you can use it for two days before needing a refill. I noticed the same issue with another Zippo lighter I bought in 2016. Overall, though, this is a decent lighter. It's a lighter, okay. It works and serves its purpose and still looks good, even if it doesn't have the same quality and finish as its predecessors of yesteryear that gave Zippo the reputation it has. If you've never owned a classic Zippo, chances are you'll love this purchase. On the other hand, if you're like me and already own a vintage Zippo, do yourself a favor and skip this article, even if it's the exact same model, and browse pawn shops, flea markets, thrift stores, vintage boutiques, and real estate Clearance and antique stores, stores in lieu of a replacement that does not have a date in the numbers on the bottom.
