Review on 🚴 Shimano BR-T4000 Rear V-Brake in Sleek Black for Enhanced Cycling Performance by Tim Thornton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good V-brakes but really need some weird Shimano mounting bolts.

Most may not realize that these V-Brakes (ALL Shimano V-Brakes) are designed to accept cleats with a shorter arm than usual. Replacing with other brand V-brakes will technically work, however the spring end will not fully fit into the boss and may fail later (especially the alloy boss). You can find shorter shoulder cleats or change your cleats, but you'll still need to replace them. come on shimano Add at least two bolts that will work with your brakes. Aside from being a nuisance, cleats also work great. It's a decent price if you want Shimano V-brakes but don't really need XT V-brakes. I paired them with a Shimano BL-T610 lever and they feel great with the included Shimano pads.

Pros
  • X-Type V-Brake
Cons
  • Interchangeable
