Review on πŸ‰ Efficient & Durable: WMF Profi Plus Stainless Steel Melon Baller by Mariah Garrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for removing the core from apples!

I've never actually used it on melons. Instead, we use this to remove the core from apples. Thanks to the small pin, my husband can remove the core from an apple without cutting it with a knife. Specially designed tools usually do not react to different sized apples and pick up too much or too little. With a melon press, we can vary as we like. I prefer half an apple to a whole one and cut the apple in half first, but by using a melon spatula instead of a knife to remove the core I remove very little of the excess material. We love this tool so much it's already our second. The first purchase was made about 12 years ago at a kitchen store in Seattle, Washington, which sadly went bankrupt in 2012. While I'm more disappointed by the "Made in China" label than the fact that it's made in WMF's home factory in Germany, I can hardly tell the old instrument from the new, save for a slight fading of the logo on the new and a slightly different hook shape at the end. Time will tell if it really is the same quality, but I was happy to find it at a price close to our first one and not in the $20 range.

Pros
  • Cool product
Cons
  • Hard to remember but it was
