I change the ignition first if the stove burner burns longer than usual or if there is a smell of gas when it is on and the burner lights. Easy to replace, usually from the oven with a Phillips head screwdriver (sometimes a full set of screws, use an electric drill or a screwdriver with a Phillips head bit), cut and strip the old ignition wires leaving enough wire (positive) remains to attach. new igniter (there are two wires, polarity doesn't matter) and with ceramic nuts attach the new igniter to the old wires, hide the wires and nuts away from the direction of the burner (flame)... and reassemble . Takes about 15 minutes.
