Review on ๐Ÿ›น Skateboard for Beginners and Pros - 27-inch Vintage Board for Kids and Adults - Stylish Shortboard with Swapable Wheels by Byron Howell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice little cruiser (but not what I expected)

Bought this for my sons to teach them the basics of skateboarding. We are by no means "skaters". We only travel and drive cheap so keep that in mind as you read on. The first thing I noticed was that I didn't get what I ordered. I ordered a bulletin board with black wheels and got glowing wheels instead. The bearings are junk and barely turn when you turn them by hand. On the road, however, my son (and I) drove surprisingly smoothly, even if it wasn't at top speed. Although the bearings aren't very good, I don't feel the need to change them right away. The board looks like nickel, but maybe a little less durable. When my 7 year old stands on it I don't see any flex but I can feel it flex and even bounce a little when I step in the middle. Flexibility isn't an issue at all when we're riding, but I think it might be when you're trying to do tricks. I have a similar sized wooden cruiser and it feels a little lighter and the board is a lot smoother as there is no pressure tape. If I had to pack and carry a board, I would probably prefer this one. Although there is no griptape, the grip is good. Not as sticky as duct tape but not slippery at all. All in all, our first day was really fun. We went out at night and my younger boys thought the lights were really cool. This is of course a budget board. But there is a really good cruiser next door. My kid loves it and I enjoyed driving it myself. For the price if you are a beginner or just looking for a cheap travel board I think this is a good buy.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Not automatic
