You know when you're feeling nauseous after a hit on the road, it's time for new dampers. The ones on my truck (my favorite Gertrude, '03 Silverado, Z71, 4x4, torsion bar springs) were about 12 years old. After hauling things like dirt, gravel, mulch and trash (about 900 pounds at a time) it was time. These Bilstein dampers fit into the picture (matte). The only problem was a pair of knuckles, some maritime linguistics, and random ballistics experimentation with ordinary hand tools. Once the dampers were in place, the ride was much better. Instead of driving like a van with bad shocks, it now drives like a van with new shocks (let's face it, it's a truck, it'll never drive like your grandma's towncar). Conclusion - perfect for Gertrude!
