Review on πŸšͺ Chamberlain B550 Smart Garage Door Opener - myQ Smartphone Controlled - Ultra Quiet & Strong Belt Drive with Powerful Lifting Capability - Includes Wireless Keypad - Blue by Junior Andreano

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice quiet unit, terrible installation instructions - Not compatible with my car's homelink

I replaced a 30 year old Craftsman unit. I love this opener. Very quiet. Quiet was important as the opener is under my master bedroom. I can barely hear this device. An old craftsman's block shakes the bed. I like administration. The remotes use standard size batteries (unlike my old master). The app works great with WIFI in my house and I can open, close and see the status of the door on my phone (free). Installation instructions were not good though. The YouTube video was *much* more helpful, but it was still missing. I actually called 800 once because the screw pattern on the picture in the instructions (and on the video) was different than my unit. My interlocutor literally blew me away and just said "that's not a problem, how else can I help you?" I don't know if I got an old unit with new instructions or a new unit and they didn't update the instructions ( an explanation would be nice). In any case, I got it all figured out, although I'm not particularly mechanical. I had my old block for reference and it was helpful. I would recommend this device but I'm glad I spent the whole day working on the project. Update: Opener still works fine and is still quiet, but I've found that if I want to program the Homelink buttons in the car I just bought, I'll have to buy a $25 "Homelink Bridge" device have. It was a surprise. I don't like standards incompatibility, especially when it costs more money. I lowered my rating by one star.
