The earliest use is in depicting cityscapes at night. Because of its improved clarity compared to non-autofocus cameras, its best use is in astrophotography. I give it five stars because there is no equivalent. The benefits: Very high levels of sharpness across much of the image area but not the corners (corner sharpness is on par with a comparable manual focus lens). meaning "sharp" on a "oval" shape. The lens comes with a hood and a cool case is supplied. It shares all the downsides of its non-autofocus sibling, including a lack of corner sharpness. Bad, to put it roughly. Poorer than the native Sony 10-18 by 4.0 stops in the extremes. The lens is set up for astrophotography, but there is no infinity button for automated focusing.
