Review on SportRack SR5527 Adjustable Carrier 24 Inch by Shane Jess

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No permanent solution. but works fine for what it is.

Works very well as a makeshift rack to transport my kayak. The only downside is that the aluminum bars are too narrow. When I tie my kayak to the rack, the kayak is too wide and results in the strap going around the other strap instead of the handlebars. causing the strap to rub against the edge of the pole. which could cause wear or tear. I just added some foam between the mounting strap and the bar it is placed in to avoid possible friction. I also add an extra strap around the perimeter of the kayak and over my car just to be on the safe side. Until I ventured out and held onto country roads for more than 30 minutes. But to be honest, I think the interstate will be fine if you do everything right. You can start to hear wind noise above 45 miles per hour. but nothing the radio can't drown out. Perhaps a better rack will be installed later. but so far it helps. and even if i upgrade i will keep it as a backup or let friends borrow it if needed.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
