SportRack SR5527 Adjustable Carrier 24 Inch Review

I put them on my truck and rode them on the road for 12 hours. I've replaced the small straps that come with the stock (tights) with ratchet straps since each can hold 500lbs AND you can actually tighten them. Then I tied down the front and back of the kayak and at each stop (gas, lunch, etc.) just checked the lines. This roofing system worked great, didn't scratch the paint and was easy to remove. I love it and I highly recommend it.

Let me start by saying that this system is light and fibrous. The setup is quite simple and can be done by one person. I bought extra stops to make it easier to attach to the hood and trunk. Otherwise, you'll have to look for something to attach those straps. While driving, I was able to cruise on the freeway and go 70 mph with no trouble shifting or anything. Overall I am incredibly happy with this purchase. This temporary, easy-to-install solution is perfect for both quick trips to local lakes and interstate travel. Works very well as a makeshift rack to transport my kayak. The only downside is that the aluminum bars are too narrow. When I tie my kayak to the rack, the kayak is too wide and results in the strap going around the other strap instead of the handlebars. causing the strap to rub against the edge of the pole. which could cause wear or tear.
