In a past life, when I worked out at the gym, my favorite protein powder was ON (Optimal Nutrition), the gold standard for mocha cappuccino. Anyway, my lifestyle has changed a bit, as has my diet, and I try to eat better quality foods whenever possible. As a result, I switched my dairy and meat products to grass-based foods. I only use grass-fed butter and milk and buy grass-fed beef. Of course, this sometimes costs three times as much as normal beef products, which is also reflected in the price of this special whey protein. It will hurt the waist pack a bit, but as a cancer survivor I see it as an investment in my health. I still buy cheaper alternatives, but prefer to switch between higher quality products when my budget allows. Why are they fed grass? It's not just for socially conscious animal rights activists: it contains CLA, or conjugated linoleic acid, and studies have shown that it supports the immune system, promotes weight loss, prevents certain diseases, is good for the heart, has anti-cancer properties and strengthens bones. approximately six times more omega-3 fatty acids than grain-fed beef, which has been shown to help fight arthritis, depression and improve focus. It contains electrolytes. Macros are good too. I like to rate protein by weight as scoop size varies from brand to brand and favorable comparisons can sometimes result in larger scoops. For a 24.4 gram serving, you're getting 20 grams of protein β that's almost 82%. My old product, which was very popular in the sports community, was only 75% protein per serving. Oddly enough, the vanilla I ordered didn't have a fat content statement. It turns out that there is no "unflavored" on the list, but 0.5 grams of "chocolate". I wonder if this is a labeling error. If you look at the total it will definitely be low, only 90 calories and less than a gram of carbs. Vanilla flavor is good. I like it. One reviewer mentioned that it seemed a little fake and contained some hidden undeclared ingredients, but it claims to be a natural vanilla flavor that's probably made from a zero-calorie natural molecular isolate like vanillin, so it has an intense flavor. I'd say it's enhanced by the flavor of stevia. I also love the addition of Himalayan salt which adds a balanced flavor and some trace minerals. Lecithin also promotes smooth emulsification when mixed. I'm guessing it's sunflower lecithin since most lecithins come from soy. Kion Clean Protein really works for me - the high standard of this protein powder justifies its value for money. Five gold stars! I think this will be a product I will keep in my rotation. Looking forward to trying chocolate next time!
