but I'm glad I did: Datastore

I was initially skeptical about buying the G-Tech drive but I'm glad I did. First of all, this seller shipped my CD super fast and it arrived a few days before expected delivery, amazing! When I first received the disc I thought it was broken because the discs are so loud. Now they really aren't THAT loud, but once you get used to the SSD in your Macbook Pro not making any noise, any clicks or ticks scare me. I did some research and found that this is normal for these companies. Drives should be a bit noisy, no problem! I was looking for a high capacity drive, specifically HGST Enterprise drives. The original plan was to use the drives in the RAID setup to copy all my data, but the latest Mac OS (OS X El Capitan) has made the RAID setup a bit more difficult. Come and find out I would get more out of using Time Machine on Mac which works great with G-Tech. Data onto a second 8TB drive. It makes sense though, when you plug the G-Tech drive into your computer, it's seen as a massive 16TB drive. Unfortunately, you can't just format G_Tech and Viola, two separate drives. Luckily, G-Tech offers downloadable software that will format the drives to your liking. However, when I tried to use it, the program turned out to have bugs. The program hung before I could even begin the formatting process. Okay, I'll find another way. There is a method I have used to partition the drives listed below. What I did to partition drives on Mac: There are two drives in G-Tech, one on top (1) and one on bottom (2) 1) With G-Tech powered off, remove the drive that turns red , but you can still format the drive internally (format with Disk Utility. 3) When drive 1 is ready to format, turn off G-Tech. 4) Now take out drive 1 and put drive 2 back in its slot. G-Tech and format drive 2 the same as drive 1.6) When drive 2 is formatted, power off G-Tech.7) Plug drive 1 back into G-Tech so both drives are connected.8) Power on G- Tech in, your computer should see the system as 2 separate drives.9 ) Set up Time Machine to back up all your data. Additional review: The disc is excellent, I've been using it for more than 2 months. Read/write speed is sufficient for me. Editing RAW photos with Adobe Lightroom and HD videos with Final Cut Pro X, I've had no lag, jump, or noticeable sluggishness. This drive is the definition of a tank. It is durable in any form and the quality is top notch. You get what you pay for with this beast. Hope this helps you!
