Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Gates Timing Belt Kit TCKWP304A with Water Pump for Engine by Clayton Jimenez

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Did what I had to do until I did it.

It's been a few years since it was installed and it works fine. I try not to rate a product until it has been tested. Capable of surviving a full 90,000 with no direct component related issues, Gates is the perfect choice for OEM and regular (sometimes spirited) driving situations. I currently have a second set of 257k on my 2008 Impreza. And also a visual and very superficial comparison with replacement during my 90,000 change intervals. New and used components have the same functionality. In other words, between the old and new components, the bearings rotated the same way (the water pump did too), the belt didn't look very worn, no or very little difference in play of any moving parts. Update 09/10/21: Disaster. Breakdown On my most recent install, the belt seemed fine for the most part. 7,000 miles before my next belt change at 90km (Subaru recommends 100km intervals) the belt broke causing a catastrophic failure. My engine is not running now. I most likely have an interference engine, my valves are at least bent and at worst the heads are pierced. A belt designed to last at least the manufacturer's recommended lifespan has cost me my favorite car.
