Review on πŸ”§ Enhanced Performance: KYB 344410 Excel G Gas Shock for Unmatched Ride Comfort by Anthony Woolley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far, so good. - Shocks

These shocks ride well, are a little stiffer than Tokico's OEM Tokyo 4Runner shocks and appear to be of good quality so far. Compared to equivalent Monroe shocks, they are much better and ride over bumps better than road-sensitive Monroe shocks. I'm sure they are made to a higher standard than other OEM replacement shocks. The 2007 4Runner with these shocks handles very much like a car and is very smooth over bumps, but the ride is a bit more truck-like (as it does with the new KYB front brace, new rear springs and those new KYB shocks should be ) . Time and miles will tell how good the ride and handling is, but so far so good and already a lot better than my last 4runner with Monroe shocks and struts. When replacing worn shocks and struts on a 4runner/FJ or Tacoma Cruiser approaching 75,000-100,000 miles or more, replace the shocks, struts and coil springs or your worn, sagging, weak springs will cause the car to lower rides higher than it needs to, sometimes bottoming out on bumps and you think the new shock absorbers are too soft. Also, the front of the car sags a lot more than the back when the springs wear out.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Nothing here
