Good part but it might not be your problem

I'm sure everything is ok but it didn't solve the problem. My car shows erratic temperatures ranging from just above normal to very hot (but never quite to the top), but when you open the hood the engine doesn't feel particularly hot and runs fine. I checked the radiator flow and even spent good money on a new water pump. Absolutely no effect.
