NuTone S97017706 Ventilation Motor Assembly Review

So my 15 year old fan was an 8814, NOT an 8814R. The new mounting plate will fit into the case, but the cut out for the 2 pin connector will NOT fit. Ordered to replace a 27 year old Nutone fan motor. The piece of sheet metal on which the new motor will be mounted is the right size to fit in the existing box. Set the screw hole lines. The item is declared as a replacement for several different models, including mine. I had to cut enough metal with scissors to fit two sockets in the fan box. No big deal but be careful. As other reviewers have pointed out, some older models that are being replaced appear to have slightly different cutout sizes that fit into a 2 pin duplex socket fit. Decided to share some photos side by side. In my original setup (stamped "NUTONE, FOR USE WITH MODELS 8814, 8663, 8673") the cutout starts at 59mm on the inside left side when viewed as shown in the photo. This was a replacement for a 30 year old fan that eventually died. I didn't want to replace the whole unit, box and bracket because of the labor. Instead it just snapped into the original ceiling box and I didn't have to change anything. It's rated at 3.5 Sona, which is quieter than average, and a 100 CFM flow rate, which is above average -- even higher than some of the newer models. I replaced the fan assembly many years ago after finding it at my local electronics store (before the internet!). Since the electronics store is no longer open, I drove to Revane to check.
