Review on NuTone S97017706 Ventilation Motor Assembly by Terence Dardant

When the exhaust fan died in our bathroom I thought I was out of luck as the product is easily over 25 years old. I replaced the fan assembly many years ago after finding it at my local electronics store (before the internet!). Since the electronics store is no longer open, I drove to Revane to check. I was pleasantly surprised that I was able to find what I needed. The metal of the model I was trying to replace has "Nutone Scovill Model 8814, 115/120V, 60Hz, 0.7A" printed on it. The replacement fan assembly I previously purchased was printed "Nutone Scovill FOR USE WITH MODELS 8814, 8663, 8673". I've read in previous reviews that the cut out for the electrical plugs doesn't fit perfectly. That applies to me, however I didn't have to cut the hole any larger as the bulb and exhaust fan covers fit into any outlet. Was able to install it in about 5 minutes. Works like a charm - it passed my "toilet paper square test" - hold the TP square to the vent and release when it sticks to the vent, there's enough suction in the exhaust (not exactly a scientific test). The only thing that might bother some people is that the fan runs much louder than the previous fan setup I used. I don't really care as long as the steam from the shower comes out of the room. In fact, this fan unit is more powerful than the previous replacement, so it clears the room much faster.
