They suit us. My husband put 2 in 20 minutes maybe less and our house is old with uneven door frames and old finishes and we had no problem with them not staying in place. We've had them for several months now and we open and close them A LOT depending on where in the house we are with our daughter. We don't keep them closed all the time because I have cats that don't jump gates so I have to let them go from room to room. I'll list a few cons: it would be great to have a kitty cutout in it so I wouldn't have to worry about locking my cats in the kitchen where their food and water bowls are, but I could still keep my 1 year old from Smog. to get there. They are a bit difficult to close and unlock even after months of constant use. However, this may be due to the unevenness of my house. Another disadvantage is that they are noisy. You can't stealthily close the gate, we have to slam ours halfway to lock it, or hold down the button and line it up perfectly for it to click. It's not a deal breaker for us though, just a little awkward when my 1 year old hears us closing the gate and decides she wants to go where the gate is closed now haha. Super durable and I will be buying more for my upstairs.
