can slippers be life changing?

Ok, look, let's be honest for a moment. I'm a short, overweight guy. Which means that when I'm walking around my house in socks or bare feet, my jeans - already with so short a leg measurement I have trouble finding them in stores - drag on the ground and fray before their time. Which, in turn, makes me feel self-conscious wearing them to places where I do wear shoes, like work. See the cycle? I am lucky to find jeans that fit in stores, so I have to wear what I've got into the ground, and what I've got embarrasses me. I'll get a favorite pair of jeans and wear them until they are unwearable. That's a source of stress for me.I've tried slippers in the past, but they've always fallen into a catch 22 -- if they're comfortable enough to "slip on" then they're inevitably going to get stretched and loose and do that flip flop thing that makes them a chore to wear around the house because every time I go up and down the stairs I think I'm going to lose one. But if they're snug enough to not do that, then it's a chore to get them on and off and I stop bothering after awhile. And most of them don't completely prevent the heel fraying issue anyway.Enter these babies. They're snug enough that I don't feel like I'm going to walk out of them. And if they do start to get a little loose, they've got this cool heel that will flatten if you want to just slip them on, or can easily be straightened back up if you want it to hold your foot in place. They've got a hard (yet flexible) sole that gives a little extra height so my jeans aren't dragging anymore. It gives me all the benefit of walking around feeling like a normal person in my own home. I can't speak highly enough about them, I'm telling everybody. Plus they're rugged enough to step outside and get the dog or check the mail.

Pros
  • Easy to clean and maintain
Cons
  • Loafers cause discomfort when walking for long periods
