I prefer a zero float or a gray set with a float of about 4.5 degrees. The red 9 degrees of lift is way too much and I feel like I'm wasting too much energy even on normal rides. I don't race, but I like to drive with purpose. I used to have to buy a new pair of these covers every quarter as I commuted to and from work daily, even if I used the covers to walk a few yards to and from bus/train stations. For recovery, I've found that I only have to change them once a year because I don't have to walk around in my shoes a lot during the trip. They lose a star because I think the plastic could have been stronger.
