After much frustration trying to get this to work with my 3rd gen Echo I was told by tech support that they are made for 1st gen and only 2nd gen echoes. I believe this because it works great with the 2nd gen Dot and the 2nd gen Echo, but I can only use it to adjust the volume on my 3rd gen Echo, but I can't give commands with it. I asked why there is no remote control. for the 3rd gen and i was told they decided it was better to hear voices than other sounds and i said it's all good if you don't buy it to use in another room and that was it it. Very disappointing as that's the only reason I bought it. I'll probably keep it as my other remote is over 3 years old but I wouldn't buy it if I knew it didn't meet my needs. If this is indeed the case, the product description must make it clearer that this only applies to first or second generation devices.
