The solution to my need to connect an external display, mouse and keyboard. Nicely compatible with my Mac (choose the right color) and a tidy cable organizer. Detaches easily to use the laptop in its intended portable configuration. One caveat: plug it in, and then plug in the peripherals one at a time. I mistakenly connected all my peripherals to the device first and then connected the device to my Mac and for half an hour I thought my MacBook turned into a brick. It closed and wouldn't turn on again, either for love or for money. Finally, I tried turning everything off and powering my (already fully charged) Mac via USB-C on the other side. It happened. Then I stubbornly decided I had nothing to lose right now, so I reconnected the key; no failure. Then I connected each peripheral individually and watched; no problem. So I came to the conclusion: everything at once was too much. I haven't unplugged the laptop to use it alone yet; I'll probably reconnect it the same way later. Some of the more tech savvy people might have a different POV; I've experienced this as a Joe Plug and Play user.
