Works well but is fragile. You will need to remove the bottom rubber piece to remove the foam pack around the glass float. It requires tugging and twisting (it's tight) and the tiny thermometer is embedded in rubber, you guessed it, I broke the thermometer. Poor design but hydrometer is easy to use and works well. The instructions could be clearer, they tell you to remove the wrapping from the float and "insert the pointed end first". sharp end? It doesn't have a pointed end. How about a little ending?
