Yes I bought it for accurate, quick and easy temperature readings when cooking - cooking oil, meat, rock candy etc. But then I found this to be more useful than that When my wife complained about the temperature in her office, she allowed me to assess the ambient temperature and the temperature of the airflow coming from the air conditioner.
