I've read all the reviews and it's almost like some of us have different products! It only took a few minutes to reach temperature and there wasn't much difference between batches. (We've had no problem cooking batches and keeping temperatures where they should be.) If I had any complaints, it would be that the small window on the lid doesn't really help when you're trying to decide . how long to cook your food depending on how brown it is. We've only recently had the cooker so I may have to update this review if it stops working in the foreseeable future. But for now I'm very happy with the fryer. I like the two basket option and also the ability to use a large one. Handy when trying to cook all the dishes at the same time. We also reuse our oil several times and being able to lift the pan to strain the oil is very handy. Alternatively, I can just cover it with foil and keep it in the fridge until next time. I think maybe reading the instructions that came with the unit regarding heat up times might help resolve some of the issues others have mentioned.
