Review on Experience Home Theater Like Never Before With ZVOX SoundBase 770 Sound Bar by Michael Daniels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Exceptional Full-range sound. Glad I decided to purchase this system over a higher-end soundbar.

After trying couple of conventional soundbar setups I was left wanting more. The systems I tried sounded thin and the bass response was lacking to say the least. I knew going in that soundbars are more of a compromise than a solution but I did expect more than what I heard. After returning a couple of different systems I decided that I would try the ZVOX 770. I was impressed to say the least.Due to the size advantage of the soundbase over a conventional soundbar the sound has much more depth and much better frequency response in the mid-range. The bass response is surprising with the 3 built-in 5.25" subwoofers. I added an external subwoofer but this system provides high quality full-range sound even if you do not add an external sub.The 770 is quite large but does blend in well once installed. It is substantially built and can easily hold a larger LED TV. I have a 55" Sony XBR and feel that the 770 is sized properly for a 55" TV or larger. One of the deciding factors in my purchase was the sub out that allows use of an external subwoofer. If you choose to add an external subwoofer it will need to be amplified and have filtering capabilities. The only reason I gave the system 4 stars instead of 5 was the lack of audio controls to fine tune the sound. It allows you to control treble and bass levels but I would easily give it 5 stars if I could adjust high, mid, and low frequencies separately. The other built-in controls are great. The Accuvoice feature is great for emphasizing dialogue and the output leveling feature is great when the volume levels between channels or between commercials and shows are inconsistent.Overall, I would easily recommend the Soundbase to anyone that is not satisfied with their soundbar and does not have the room or the budget for a full-blown surround system. I would say this system easily competes with even the most expensive, highest quality soundbar systems and is much better than most mid level systems and is better than some high end systems.
