Type of review

After trying couple of conventional soundbar setups I was left wanting more. The systems I tried sounded thin and the bass response was lacking to say the least. I knew going in that soundbars are more of a compromise than a solution but I did expect more than what I heard. After returning a couple of different systems I decided that I would try the ZVOX 770. I was impressed to say the least.Due to the size advantage of the soundbase over a conventional soundbar the sound has much more depth…

Pros
  • Each Sound Base can learn to respond to your preferred remote control. Optical and coaxial digital audio and analog audio inputs
Cons
  • May produce distorted sound at high volumes

Wish I had bought this before I tried all the others.

I have a 55" Sony TV and have it sitting on a credenza. But a thin TVs typically have bad sound. I run the TV through my stereo, but I hate having to do the remote control "musical chairs" game every time I watch TV, and didn't want the hassle of managing a bunch of satellite speakers.Because my TV sits fairly low on its stand (about 4") most sound bars look kind of weird shoved in front of the TV, like some sort of an audio afterthought. What I really wanted was decent sound…

Pros
  • Left, right and center speakers for super-clear voice reproduction
Cons
  • Bulky design may clash with sleek and modern home decor

The ultimate TV speaker system

Phenomenal sound, and extreme ease of use. I have owned a number of 5.1 and 7.1 home theater systems. None of them produced sound commensurate with their price tags. I recently got rid of a system using Definitive Technology Speakers, and a Denon receiver. This alleged "high end" surround system was incredibly complicated to use, and did not deliver a sound all that pleasing. I got rid of that system, and got the Zvox 770 sound base to go with my 60" high end Samsung HDTV.The sound…

Pros
  • Home Audio
Cons
  • Limited customization options for sound preferences

Very impressed with the 770. I'd very recently purchased the 670 for a smaller TV and was extremely impressed with it.Although the 670 is rated to also support TVs up to 70", for my next purchase to be placed under a TV of that size, I figured to try out the larger 770.While I'm no audiophile, I'm extremely impressed with both my ZVOX's. Dialogue is fantastic, extremely clear and an "accuvoice" setting accentuates it even more for those who may deem it necessary. While there is a…

Pros
  • 32 pounds
Cons
  • No wireless connectivity options for streaming music from mobile devices

First, sound base is extremely easy to set up and has several options to make it work with your TV remote. Took about 10 minutes to get it working, including setting it up to respond to my TV remote volume controls. Secondly, it does everything I want it to do as far as sound quality. I have a long room and sit about 20 feet from the TV, so I don't really get any surround effect but that's not what I got it for. I have a typical big screen with a great picture but terrible sound. This unit has…

Pros
  • ZVOX
Cons
  • Limited control options with only a basic remote included

Superb for TV Watching

I've been thinking about a new Sound Bar for quite awhile, since my old one died. Depending on only the builtin speakers of my TV, I found myself beginning to rely on closed captions for some programing, especially for British accents and some programs who seem to boost the music over the voices in dramatic moments. This ZVOX received a solid rating from Sound and Vision, but not quite so good by CR. Personally, I am very well pleased. I can now clearly hear most dialogue and the music at a…

Pros
  • Designed to support a TV placed directly on top of the Sound Base, if desired. Frequency range: 35 Hz - 20 kHz
Cons
  • High price point compared to other sound bar options

uncorrected 40% hearing loss - AccuVoice works

My 76 year old husband had stopped watching movies because he could not follow the dialog, and quit listening to music because he struggled to hear the vocals. His ENT specialist had him tested by an audiologist a few months ago and he has 40% hearing loss, primarily in the upper range. To date he has refused to get hearing aids. So I purchased this speaker system for him and it works like a charm. He is so happy watching his favorites again. I was impressed by the AccuVoice setting which…

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • May not meet the expectations of audiophiles looking for higher-end sound quality

Great sound, poor remote

This sound base does what I need it to do. It provides a sound quality that allows me to distinctly hear the audio on the TV without cupping my hands to my ear. It also produces a nice surround sound. If the review was based on sound alone, I would give it five stars. The blue tooth does not work beyond 2 feet away from the base. I have tried it with my PC, phone, and tablet. The phone and tablet must be right beside it for it to work. The company said that it could be the antenna, and they…

  • Lack of built-in voice assistant or smart home integration

Great for a Big TV of 55-85 "

This ZVOX 770 Soundbase is almost as good, if not better, than the Sonos Playbase. I tested both out. ZVOX 770 holds 80 pounds more and up to 140 pounds max of weight (TV + any stand you have for the TV). Sonos Playbase is much weaker and not as wide, so it cannot hold more than 70-74 pounds. Big OLED TV's nowadays (2018) weight 65-85) pounds depending on what stand you use with it. I like the crystal clear audio of voices too in it when watching movies or shows with accents (think The Crown on

Excellent Build & Sound Quality - Plug and Play Simple

UPDATE #5 (02/04/2017) - The IR sensor is FINE!I am updating this review because I am a royal dope; after replacing the IR sensor that ZVox sent me, I never bothered testing with the original ZVox remote and kept using the Vizio remote I had.My wife and I had gotten to the point where we were going to throw the ZVox away because of the frustration with the IR sensor (up. up up up up up up. up [vol goes up +1]).In a moment of rare intelligence I decided to order a replacement Vizio remote before

Pros

Cons
  • No option to expand or add on to create a surround sound experience

ZVox + Apple HomePods + AppleTV to get Quality Music Listening

ZVox SoundBase 770: Step One. I purchased a used 770 on ebay so that I could hear the TV without blasting my spouse out of the room. I can now hear voices on the TV without a marital challenge. Next step was to hook up my subwoofer to the ZVox system to get required base when watching TV (Movies). That solves the TV watching issue, but Music originally sounded horrible on the ZVox. Voila, I found a cure for Apple users. A year later I purchased two HomePods and put one on each side of the TV to

Pros
  • Beautiful full-range sound from a single cabinet, no separate floor standing subwoofer needed
