Yes, the negative reviews are correct - the thing is a beast. The reviewer who provided the solution is right - start at the top, click your way down. But it really shouldn't be that hard to put them together. As another reviewer said, this requires assembly BEFORE placing the tree on the stand. There will not be easy access to your tree's water if you make a full ring. If you leave it open at the back so you can slide it out, then you have your real tree. PLEASE NOTE the base size of your tree - oddly enough it fits the base of my 8ft full width tree perfectly, but it does NOT fit my 9ft pencil tree stand. Other than that, it's durable, color matches the photos, and looks great at the base of my tree.
