Perfect material and size for our thin wood for outdoor use. We had to use all the parts to fit over the stand. We had a red plastic tablecloth over the garbage bags holding them in place. It will always move in windy weather. We left it in place and put a collar on. I love how it looks and will never have to straighten fabric again. This product really works, but there's a trick to putting it together. If you just take two pieces, turn them over and try to put them together on a flat surface, this won't happen. The trick is to insert the top hinge at an angle so that the first of the 4 latches sort of clicks into place, allowing the pieces to stand upright as in the finished product, and then clicks further into place. The collar is very beautiful and durable. I love it! But. There's that word! It really can't be made much smaller without wanting to click. It can be made without a section, and this is normal, if more then it will break. If you have a very thin pencil tree like mine, you can see the inside because it's too wide. Yes, the negative reviews are correct - the thing is a beast. The reviewer who provided the solution is right - start at the top, click your way down. But it really shouldn't be that hard to put them together. As another reviewer said, this requires assembly BEFORE placing the tree on the stand. There will not be easy access to your tree's water if you make a full ring. If you leave it open at the back so you can slide it out, then you have your real tree.
