Review on Cozy Products CL Radiant Heater by Raymond Vogel

I selected this heating pad for use in a large chick brooder. First I tested it myself. It feels very warm and doesn't necessarily burn. You can touch it, but you can't keep your hand on it for more than half a second or so without pain. It also heats up unevenly. Some parts are too hot to even touch, even a few minutes after turning it on. Others need many hours to warm up. I let it work under the table for 24 hours. Doesn't appear to be a fire hazard. But it also gives off little heat; The area under the table/desk was no warmer than the rest of the room. An inch from the surface, the temperature doesn't feel warmer. So for a very small space (like an incubator) it may be okay to keep the chicks out of direct contact and close off their space. Otherwise there are better products. As a foot warmer, since it's specified for vertical use, you can't put it horizontally, which isn't very useful. To be honest I'm not sure what to use it for as it's too hot to touch but doesn't radiate heat.
