I don't know how many other reviews of this replacement product are accurate. Revain is currently (August 14) investigating what happened when reviews of one product were combined with another product. I would advise you to stick to more recent reviews to get the best rating for this actual product. The original product is no longer listed on Revain. Read this review if you really expect this voltmeter to give you accurate readings. This digital panel voltmeter (DPM) is model YB5135D manufactured by YB Electronics Co. It has only two wires. This version is 7.5-20 VDC, which is used both to power the DPM and to measure the voltage source in question (e.g. car battery). Therefore polarity is important and if the voltage source is below +7.5 VDC the DPM will not work. I measured several batteries with the DPM and compared the readings with the Fluke 87 VOM and Fluke 114 VOM. The YB DPM Index is consistently down 9.5%. The error I got led me to believe that my fully charged car/boat/RV battery was only 40% charged. To fix the DPM issue, I turned the blue potentiometer screw counterclockwise 6-1/3 turns. installed on the circuit board. Then all three counters converged (I re-measured several batteries (9V, 12V and 20V) to make sure the problem was with the counter gain and not the offset). I then applied some nail polish to the screw/potentiometer to prevent the screw from accidentally turning from where I set it. Before using any of these YB-DPMs, I highly recommend testing them with an accurate voltmeter before use. adjust the potentiometer if necessary, then tighten the screw on the potentiometer to prevent it from "calibrating" knocking or vibrating. The YB DPM I received uses 18-19mA to power the device. The DPM typically has a high input impedance, so the length of the test leads is not an issue. In the case of this DPM, if you are using thin wire (eg 28 AWG) and the DPM is 20 feet or more from the voltage source, your DPM will not give you accurate readings. Or if the voltage source being measured has a high internal resistance (unlike a lead-acid battery), the DPM reading will not give you an accurate reading. Hole for DPM installation in a 0.70" - 0.125" thick panel. , I measured 1.535"H x 2.920"W. The DPM measures 3.128"W x 1.785"H x 1.074"D. The DPM slides 1.025" into a hole in the front of any panel that you can install it into.
