I already had another decorative pie crust cutter so I wanted to add this one for cherry and patriotic (star) cakes. It cuts through batter with ease and is fairly durable (push down to cut batter), but you may need a small dedicated toothbrush to clean the crust cutter's decorative inner edges. It's not difficult to clean, but the dough has a habit of sticking to tiny spots! It is worth making a special cake base. UPDATE: Instead of using a special little toothbrush to remove tiny bits of dough that are difficult to scrape off small areas, Bundt makes a wonderful tool with a pickaxe on one end and two different-sized brushes on the other. It's designed to get baked cake residue out of corners or other small crevices, but it's great for those decorative cake pans.
