A little difficult to use but worth it.

They are much wider than a 9" or 10" pie pan. When using them, I take the flat side when the meat tenderizer lightly taps the top of the pan so it cuts through the pie crust. Use tweezers or the tip of a sharp knife to pick up any pieces that weren't completely cut through. I then invent another cake topper based on the drawing and cut it with a knife before placing it on my cake. On this cut, it just reaches the inner rim of my cake, so I roll it over the outer crust and mix it in. As for the…

Pie Crust Cutter

I already had another decorative pie crust cutter so I wanted to add this one for cherry and patriotic (star) cakes. It cuts through batter with ease and is fairly durable (push down to cut batter), but you may need a small dedicated toothbrush to clean the crust cutter's decorative inner edges. It's not difficult to clean, but the dough has a habit of sticking to tiny spots! It is worth making a special cake base. UPDATE: Instead of using a special little toothbrush to remove tiny bits of…

kind of works? May be? - Nope. Crust on fire

Edit added: Rating downgraded. It doesn't seem to matter how or when I cover the pies with the baking crust. This will actually brown the crusts faster. I think this is because the aluminum heats to the same temperature as the oven and it's much closer to my cakes so the heat is more intense if that makes sense. However, I don't want burnt crusts, so I'm going back. It used to be written: Spreading the cake before baking doesn't work if you're working with a completely oily crust. It weighs…

Impress your friends even if you're not a baker!

I'm not a cake maker but I saw a picture of a cake with this design on the internet and tracked down the villain. Ordered for a cake baking competition. It arrived within 2 days (it ships from Ohio, the same state I live in). I used it on a cherry pie and EVERYONE was so impressed with the rust on it. The cake took 2nd place (my apple pie took first place!) Contest rules require cakes to be in a disposable plate. I used a 10 inch disposable pie pan I bought at my local Wal-Mart and it was the…

Works but requires effort

I would say this product is perfectly designed and works as advertised. He cuts out a round crust and carves a pattern into it as it should be. However, you may have trouble if all the clippings fall out. I had to cut out some of them with a sharp knife to separate them. OTOH, the schematic was already cut so it wasn't that bad. Obviously, many features of the test affect whether the cutouts separate cleanly from the device, so this isn't a knock on the product, just an observation. . After…
