Review on 🧼 Gulfstream Tropical AGU030SM Mag-Float Glass Aquarium Cleaner: Small Size for Efficient Cleaning by Nikki May

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Best tool for the job due to its limitations

This mag float gets the job done but is inefficient. However, one cannot blame the product too much as it is simply the nature of the design. It's too small a magnet to put enough pressure on the glass. You'll pick up the algae from the glass, but you'll have to go over the same spot 10-20 times (if you're not scratching every day) depending on how stubborn it is. Again, this is because the abrasive side inside the tank just hasn't had enough pressure behind it. I also have a "large" model that works EXCELLENT. Same precise design, only its size allows to put much more pressure on the glass, which allows removing algae in 1-2 passes. The reason I didn't give this product a low rating is if you have a small aquarium. (like my 4 gallon nano) you have no choice but to use the "small" model. And while it doesn't work as well as the larger models, it's still a MUCH, MUCH better alternative to using a sponge or paper towel, which doesn't work very well initially and also requires you to dip your hand .in the water. Tank. This can get very messy and time consuming with nano tanks as you then have to drain some of the water so it doesn't overflow when you dip your hand. Mag-Float came out with the best product they could get given the limitations that a small tank brings. I recommend buying the largest scraper that will fit in your aquarium. If you have anything over 15-20 gallons, spend the extra money and get a "big" model. The money you save by purchasing it is definitely not worth the time and effort you put into cleaning the glass. On the other hand, if you have a very small tank and have no choice but to buy "Small", go for it because, despite its shortcomings, it's still the best tool for the job.
