I got this oversized teapot for Christmas. I fell in love with it because it's convenient and easy to use. I live in a townhouse that has both a ground floor and a basement, with a kitchen counter on both levels, and the one in the basement can be called a wet bar. I found I needed a kettle both upstairs and downstairs. The reason for buying this kettle was that I'm getting old and a little forgetful, I can heat the kettle on the burner on the stove, I'll sit down and it will boil soon. God forbid if I go downstairs I might burn the house down. It takes 6-7 minutes for an electric stove to boil water in a mountainous area, while this baby takes about 2 minutes to heat up and there is a rumbling sound. It also has a safety feature that allows it to be turned off after cooking. The water is good and hot, like for tea. This water stays warm enough for a few minutes. The switch has a red light to let you know it's on. It also has a second security feature: a short cord. It's easy to read how much water is in it with a clear viewing area listing the measurements. You should "always" fill in enough water to cover the heating coil inside, and also pour out the unused contents each time you're done. The base is solid and flat, providing a level surface. Comfortable grip for big and small hands. If you live in a hard water area, use white vinegar inside the unit to coat the metal coil to the level where the coil is attached to the unit about once a week or more often. Allow the vinegar to soak up any remaining hard water for at least 30 minutes or more. Pour into a designated container and reuse. The coil does not need to be brushed or cleaned, simply wipe with a paper towel to remove minerals. Most of the time, just letting the vinegar drip off without the need to rub will give it a shine. Rinse well with water. It protects your device and provides this gem with many years of excellent service. I would buy it as a gift for friends and family, no matter young or old!
