The item is well packed, rolled up in a carton. After the parts were leveled a bit, I proceeded to install them. I prepped the area with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before applying the protectors. The backing was easy to remove and when applied to the stairs, the treads laid well and the adhesive adhered well to the prepared surface. Having just laid the track I don't know about the durability of the product but don't see it as a problem. I'll probably need more protectors for my project so I won't hesitate to buy more.
