needed a relatively inexpensive way to back up to physical media and after some research I settled on this guy. If you read reviews, you will see reviews everywhere. Some people don't seem to realize that some operating systems don't come with DVD player software installed, which is not surprising considering how few computers these days come with optical drives! Nero software not included in the product list. A lot of people must have complained because my drive came with a paper sleeve that had a big white sticker on it that said "This trial DOES NOT expire in 30 days". - However, for those with a regular case, note that it comes with a SATA cable (for data) but NO SCREWS. I've had many instances in the past where optical drive slots only had a bare metal cage, so be aware that you may need to purchase 2-4 small metal screws to hold the drive in the case. I'm deducting a star because the SATA cable that came with it didn't work. Luckily I had a spare lying around from a previous project, but if I didn't have it I'd be giving it away completely. I knew it was the cable because the drive had power (it spun and the tray popped out), but Windows didn't recognize the drive. After I swapped out the cable, Windows automatically detected it with no third-party drivers. It seems to be working as expected.
