I've heard a lot of good things about them - probably the best. I just don't see it. For reference, I've been using the LEADNOVO Audio Video Capture Card for several months with no problems and HIGHLY recommend it if you have a spare USB 3.0 port. It is used with a Sony Alpha DSLR that cost me over $900. I also have a Logitech BRIO that serves as a backup, but it doesn't go through the capture card (doesn't have to). It is connected to a high-performance Dell desktop computer with the latest processor and maximum RAM with an nVidia graphics card for a Samsung 49-inch ultra-widescreen. Just so you know I'm not a newbie. IT/technology is what I do professionally. With Elgato, I plugged it straight into the same port I've always used. The computer recognized it fine, no drivers required, but neither ManyCam nor OBS recognized it. The lamp was on and that was it. Even the Elgato Capture Utility couldn't do that. The Sony Remote software (think of it as a way to control camera settings on screen, not as a viewer) worked, so I know Windows is correctly detecting the USB connection and correctly passing HDMI through. means it wasn't considered a webcam device - which makes sense when there's no driver. 60 frames per second, what he should do. The LEADNOVO card always made 60 fps with the same image quality. The only thing you need is to connect a USB cable to it so that it can connect to the computer; it is not a dongle. It's also excellent for the small price and also supports HDMI output to an alternative video display (Elgato itself can't do that). Why is it important? Well, if you want to make eye contact with the other person, you can place a smaller monitor directly above or below the camera and output video to it to give the appearance of direct eye contact. Did I mention LEADNOVO is part of the cost? I suspect, but I'm not sure, that Elgato makes too many assumptions about the HDMI signal coming from the camera. Rather than just signalling, it seems to want things set up a very specific way and isn't smart enough to handle it any other way. Again, this is a theory based on the fact that it cannot transmit a good signal if LEADNOVO can do so without error. Anyway, I wasn't inclined to fight it, especially since it comes driverless. He will be sent back.
