Review on πŸ”‹ SOLAR Digital 12V Battery and System Tester: Maximize Efficiency and Reliability by David Thomley

Great product! Should have!

I've never had an effective way to determine the health of my car batteries. With Solar BA9, the answer is now just seconds away. For the first time, I know with certainty if a battery is good, bad, or somewhere in between. I used to think that a good voltage reading is a good indicator of battery health. Not so! Now I know that CCAs (Cold Crank Amplifiers) are the real answer. BA9 quickly tells you if your battery is producing enough CCA to be reliable, while also analyzing the internal plates for conductivity. According to Solar Technical Support, any reading 20% or more below the CCA rating indicates the battery is bad or on the verge of failure. Example: A battery rated at 1000 CCA is considered defective if it produces less than 800 CCA. Knowing this information will give you more confidence in your vehicle's starting ability. In addition, BA9 performs other useful checks such as: B. checking the alternator and the starter. This is a required device. I also have a BA7 which is very similar except the BA9 has 3 additional but not required functions: health status, charge status and internal resistance. However, the main difference between the two devices is that the BA7 uses a 1-line LED display, which is a bit more difficult to interpret due to the limitations of LEDs to display text compared to the BA9, which has a 4-line backlit LCD is. with English plain text. Some say the BA9 is easier to read in the sun, which is common with LCDs. For a great carrying case, check out my photo of the Pelican 1060 Micro Case where the BA9 (or BA7) holds the manual and cables perfectly.
